Relationships: LOTF Chp. 10

Jack acts very chiefly, almost over the limit at times. He orders the boys around and seems very selfish and uncaring for others. He beat a little boy for his own entertainment. That shows his utter cruelty and yet cowardice at the same time. He has the indecency to hurt a little boy for no reason. He really doesn't care about any of the boys on the island and thinks fear is a good thing. He wants the boys to live in fear so he can be the one to save them and be thought of as their hero.
That is extreme cruelty and leads me to believe that although the older kids might be on his side for “fun”, any Littluns that stayed with Jack were too afraid to leave. They were terrified of Jack and therefore stayed by his side. Jack really is an intimidating power to the young boys, and this leads to an awful relationships which if taken much further could create much more danger and sorrow upon the island.
