So Ralph and Jack have completely split. All that Ralph has to go on now is fire and smoke and getting rescued. He has the help of the twins and Piggy, and a few Littluns to take care of. Simon has gone off on his own and Ralph really is in trouble when it comes to survival.
Ralph was hungry so he went to Jack as a last resort
situation. Now as the rain begins to fall, Ralph realizes how much danger Jack
will put him in and how much trouble will occur if he stays around the wild
hunters. The rain must represent bad situations that might occur. The rain brought them to this deserted island and as Ralph feels the rain coming, he know that nothing good can be on the way.
Jack chooses to ignore his hopes of becoming
civilized again and creating rules and fire. All Jack cares about is having
“fun”, which will eventually lead to a tragic and horrifying death. The dance and celebration of killing a pig becomes the massacre of an innocent boy. The boys have so much fun they don't even realize what they've done, and continue on with a sort of blind spot for civilization. They never realize what they are doing and how much damage they may be causing.
